We recently (today actually) received the question of what we actually do here at AdhocAds. I guess we always thought it was pretty obvious what we do, and therefore we never really bothered to explain it.
For those of you that might not know, we are a text link ad marketplace. We currently have about 600 active publishers, and 300 active advertisers. Many of our advertisers are actually Search Engine Optimization firms that are in charge of building quality backlinks for clients.
Publishers register sites they wish to sell text link ads on. They include a description, price per month, and placement for where the text link ads would be placed. We pre-screen them, categorize them and collect verbose statistics on each site.
Advertisers then can browse our inventory, looking for sites to purchase text link ads on. They can search by category, keyword, and description to find sites that are closely related to the site they wish to advertise. Then they can sort by PR, Alexa, Age of domain, and Google backlinks to find sites that are of high quality.
When an advertiser purchases a link from one of the sites, the publisher has 3 days to publish the text link ad to their site. The publisher also has the option to decline to publish a link, as sometimes advertiser will try to buy links on sites that are unrelated, or of low quality. If the publisher does not publish the link within 3 day, or they decline the link, the subscription is canceled, and the advertiser's money is refunded.
